Private commission. My brief for this was to try and imagine a different cover for Marillion's first album 'Script For A Jester's Tear' using the same 'Fool'.

He sits in despair trying to write that perfect love song...the key and the feather symbolise a journey...one that has clues to a life in the other rooms...the boy...the violin...and as for the dog...a tamed carnivore stands midway between animal and human, savagery and civilisation, nature and culture.

Supernatural dog guardians are a characteristic symbol of a journey...in this case the classic journey of The Fool!
